Implication Questions
Phase #2: Implication Questions
During this phase the client should feel increasingly uncomfortable if he or she is not already so, because you HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE for their actions and inactions of the past. They need to fully feel the pain of not yet having achieved their objectives. The more each pain is felt now, the more can be accomplished in the next phase.
The Key of Implication Questions is the WHY of an issue. Implication Questions are designed to get someone to think about the implications of an issue, because the implications will ultimately justify the decision to do something. This is how you can emotionally transition a conversation.
Examples are:
“Have you ever calculated how much this is costing you?”
“How does this behavior affect your friends and relatives?”
“What if, ………………………?”
“Perhaps, …………………..?”
Clients will explain vividly why these issues are critical and vital to them. However, clients often fail to raise all key points that could help justify a solution.
Therefore, you need to probe for implications that will raise a client’s awareness to even greater heights, so as to elevate their issues to their actual level of urgency.
They will then feel a sufficient sense of urgency to engage in a solution.
