The Helicase Cut?
The Helicase Cut?

The sugar found in DNA is called a Deoxy-ribose, while the sugar in RNA is called a Ribose.
The phosphate groups attach to the 3rd (3’) and the 5th (5’) carbon atom of each sugar. One strand has a 5′ (prime) > 3′ (prime) direction; the other a 3′ prime > 5′ prime direction. This has consequences for enzymes that work on the DNA.
The enzyme Helicase cuts DNA in half for replication from its 5′ to its 3′ end.

Guanosine is a purine nucleoside that has guanine linked by its N9 nitrogen to the C1 carbon of the ribose. It is a component of ribonucleic acid and its nucleotides play important roles in metabolism.
