In this book, is described how Rudolf Steiner studied the incarnations of 3 significant spiritual beings in our evolution: Lucifer, Christ and Ahriman. Lucifer incarnated around 2800 BC<\/span><\/a>, the eternal Cosmic Christ incarnated on planet earth in 30 AD, whilst Ahriman is preparing his re-incarnation by insidiously promoting the Homo Economicus: economic security is sufficient for a healthy public life. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

A new and different wisdom must be achieved from human free will, says Steiner, or else we will succumb to Ahriman. Fifteen lectures about this were given from Oct.–Nov. 1919.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Steiner speaks of the superficiality of the materialistic view of history, originating with the economic shift amongst the population at the time of the Reformation. During the Egyptian–Chaldean era, initiates ruled through spiritual impulses. In the Greco-Roman period, priests had power over their congregations. Now, the homo economicus (economic human) is controlled by the capitalists and the banksters.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

However, the healing of social relationships has to come through a different mode of thought. The life of spirit must be separated not only from politics but also from economics. True social understanding requires the comprehension of karma, and the appreciation of each person’s individual destiny. In parallel, says Steiner, we should work toward a global consciousness, as true social ideas are founded on people feeling themselves to be citizens of the world.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The beast mentioned in Revelation 13, is said to have the number 666. In demonology that is the ‘mystic number’ of the daemon of the Sun called SORATH. Although excessive light will destroy something, light is the source of human creativity. Rudolf Steiner has developed a view of Lucifer as a being of light, as a spirit which may guide man towards the Christ, who is the true light, countering the dark Ahriman within a dualism which is deeply entrenched in Gnostic and even earlier demonological speculation.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ahriman, The Prince of Lies, the Prince of Darkness of modern occult dualism, also called Mephistopheles is derived from the Angra Mainu of Zoroastrian dualism, where Ahura Mazda is the creative spirit of light.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ahriman seeks to pull the human ever deeper enmeshed with nature (not its proper home), and even with the sub-natural forces that belong to the demonic world. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Lucifer seeks to lift the human upwards into the realms of light where spirit has true freedom. Since his incarnation in China, about 5000 years ago, extraordinary illustrious primordial wisdom impulses spread all over the orient and into the western culture until the 15th century. Then the materialistic element took hold of modern Christian theologians that has lasted till today, creating nothing but hallucinations on top of Ahriman’s illusions.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It is through the arts that humans manifest most intimately and proudly. An urge to remain unfettered to the earth and to aspire to the godlike. It is in the arts that the temptations of pride, with its attendant fall, may easily overpower humans.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Lucifer breathes into the human the wonderful ability to aspire towards the spiritual realm, to become an artist, a god in miniature. In so doing he enables them to wrest free from the earth-embedding clutch of Ahriman. Yet Lucifer tends also to excess, and that is where the danger lies. The human is not just an earth being, as Ahriman would wish it to be. Neither an angel, free of the earth, as Lucifer (as bearer of the spiritual light) wishes the human to be.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In the demonology of Steiner, therefore, we note that there are situations in which the Luciferic temptations which lead to a free fall through the spiritual world (use of drugs, etc.), are to be resisted as firmly as the blandishments of Ahriman. It is as though Ahriman would turn humans into lifeless earth so that they might become forgetful of their spiritual ancestry and destiny, while Lucifer would give spiritual life so abundantly that humans might forget that their destiny is concerned with the responsible and loving regeneration of the earth, upon which they must remain sure-footed.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The image of Michael spearing Satan (as trampled Dragon) therefore takes on a new meaning within the framework of esoteric lore, for it is possible to see such an image as representing the dualistic conflict between Lucifer as a being of light and Ahriman as an earth demon, expressing a conflict which rages in every human soul. However, the demonic dualism expressed within the occult view of Lucifer and Ahriman has not found a satisfactory account within theology.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Sorath as the beast is dealt with on a sublime esoteric plane by Rudolph Steiner in the 11h of his lectures on the apocalyptic vision of John. He shows that the numerical equivalents of the 4 Hebrew letters Samech, Vau, Resh and Tau, which denote the spiritual beingness of the human, add to 666 and spell the consonants of the name Sorath, who is the adversary of Christ.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Is Rudolf Steiner<\/span><\/a> the most remarkable human being of the 20th century? His lectures, writings and recorded insights offer a comprehensive survey of the occult nature of the material and spiritual worlds<\/span><\/a>, of cultural life, its aspirations, of the performing<\/span><\/a> arts, history, philosophy<\/span><\/a>, and almost every facet of human life in a practical and spiritual sense<\/span><\/a>. His perceptions are as revolutionary, and demonstrate remarkable insights: from organic architecture<\/span><\/a>, to medicine<\/span><\/a>, biodynamic<\/span><\/a> agriculture<\/span><\/a>, education<\/span><\/a>, etc.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
