It originates back to the Han Dynasty. Two civil servants of the Emperor, Yin Changsheng and Wang Fangping, went up to the Ming Mountain to practise Taoism. During the complicated process they became immortal: <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/userfiles\/image\/2024-pics\/Yin+Wang-fndrs-of-site.jpg\" width=\"277\" height=\"224\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Their names combined is &ldquo;YingWang&rdquo; meaning &ldquo;King of Hell&rdquo;. Here was the beginning of the creation of the Underworld. The many temples and memorials show images of people who are being tortured because of their sins. Diyu is a Confucianist, Taoist, and Buddhist mythological representation of the Underworld, in other words, Hell: <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/userfiles\/image\/2024-pics\/Dead-bodies-dropping-into-hell.jpg\" width=\"190\" height=\"132\" alt=\"\" \/>&nbsp;&nbsp;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/userfiles\/image\/2024-pics\/Mythical-animals-devouring-humans.jpg\" width=\"190\" height=\"132\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">This <span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 255);\">Fengdu<\/span> complex resembles the capital of the Underworld. <a href=\"https:\/\/commons.wikimedia.org\/wiki\/Category:Fengdu_Ghost_City\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 255);\">Fengdu<\/span><\/a> shows up in documents of over 2000 years ago.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">According to Chinese mythology, the dead have to pass <a href=\"https:\/\/thelittlehouseofhorrors.com\/fengdu-ghost-city\/\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 255);\">3 tests<\/span><\/a> before being allowed into the Afterlife. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/userfiles\/image\/2024-pics\/Wizard-at-entrance-Fengdu.jpg\" width=\"277\" height=\"119\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 255);\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Wizard at entrance<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 255); font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">The first test<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">The 1st test is to cross the Modoribashi: the Bridge of helplessness. This stone bridge was built during the Ming Dynasty and is a test for Good and Evil. It has three identical arcs. The dead are put to the test at the 2nd arc: <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/userfiles\/image\/2024-pics\/bridge-entering-the-ghost-city.jpg\" width=\"277\" height=\"208\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">There are several procedures to cross the bridge. These depend on sex, age and marital status. The demons on the bridge will let you pass or they&rsquo;ll stop you. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">&lt;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/userfiles\/image\/2024-pics\/3-men-in-one-body.jpg\" width=\"177\" height=\"182\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">The good and pure are allowed to the next test, but the evil dead will be thrown into the water. This is the oldest building in Fengdu. All dead have to balance on one leg on a certain stone. They have to keep this up for three minutes. Only the good and pure can fulfill this task.
