All sensations, movements, thoughts, memories, and feelings are the result of signals that pass through neurons. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/userfiles\/image\/neurontjes.jpg\" style=\"width: 301px; height: 110px;\" alt=\"\" \/><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Neurons <a href=\"?p=184\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 255);\">consist of three parts<\/span><\/a>:<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">The cell body containing the <span style=\"color: rgb(0, 102, 153);\">nucleus<\/span>, where most of its molecules for proper functioning are manufactured.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 102, 153);\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Dendrites<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"> extend out from the cell body like the branches of a tree and receive messages from other nerve cells that are passed on to the cell&rsquo;s body.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Some signals travel away from the cell body, down an <span style=\"color: rgb(0, 102, 153);\">axon<\/span> to another neuron, a muscle cell, or cells in some other organ. <\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">The neuron is&nbsp;surrounded by many support cells,&nbsp;some of which wrap around the axon to form an insulating sheath, making nerve signals travel faster and farther.
