You may find it hard to be in intimite relationships, feel paralyzed, become depressed (unexpressed anger), or have panic attacks.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Children can have PTSD too:<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Young children may become upset if their parents are not close by, have trouble sleeping, or suddenly have trouble with toilet training or going to the bathroom.<br \/>\n    <\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Children, ages 6 to 9, may act out the trauma through play, drawings, or stories. They may complain of physical problems or become more irritable,&nbsp;aggressive. They also may develop fears and anxiety that don&#8217;t seem to be caused by the traumatic event.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">How does PTSD develop?<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">All people have PTSD, because all people have lived through traumatic events in one lifetime or another, that caused them to fear for their lives, or see horrible things, and\/or feel helpless. Strong emotions caused by each event create changes in the brain that may result in PTSD.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">How strongly you experience PTSD depends on many things. These include:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">* How intense the trauma was.<br \/>\n* How strong your reaction was.<br \/>\n* How close you were to the event.<br \/>\n* If you lost a loved one or were hurt.<br \/>\n* How much you felt in control of events.<br \/>\n* How much help and support you got after the event.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">PTSD symptoms usually start soon after the traumatic event, but they may not happen until months or years later. They also may come and go over many years. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">A recent USVA survey <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">found that 7.6 % of <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">warzone returning <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">soldiers seem to have PTSD<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">, including physical, emotional and cognitive problems. <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">After a year at home, that number rose to 18.2 %.<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"> Those who initially had concussions and mild traumatic brain injuries did not appear  to encounter new PTSD symptoms a year later. <br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">How is PTSD treated?<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">The most effective treatments for PTSD are:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Counseling , which can help you understand your thoughts and learn ways to <strong><em>express your feelings<\/em><\/strong>. Cognitive-behavioral therapy has been shown to be the most effective form of counseling for PTSD.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Antidepressant medicines, such as selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors (SSRIs). These suppressors can help you <em><strong>feel<\/strong><\/em> <strong><em>less sad and worried<\/em><\/strong>. SSRIs include fluoxetine (Prozac, etc.), paroxetine, and sertraline.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">You may try <a href=\"?p=233\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 255);\">different practices<\/span><\/a>.
