This <a href=\"?p=704\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 255);\">immersion of our attention<\/span><\/a> creates emotional feelings of sympathy.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Appreciative  Attention (<a href=\"?p=262\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 255);\">3DAA<\/span><\/a>) focuses the attention on the contours + the immediate  outer space of something or someone. This creates feelings of compassion  and <a href=\"?p=868\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 255);\">empathy<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Applying (3DSA) plus (3DAA) creates Merciful Attention: first sharing in someone&#8217;s suffering as if it were your own and then shifting your attention to the other&#8217;s outer space. This combo of emotional attention involves the limbic (mammalian) brain part mostly. The attention giver starts to regulate and heal the receiver&#8217;s brain network. Both brains work together.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The  word mercy literally means &quot;sorrowful at heart&quot;. <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Merciful Attention (&quot;I care&quot;) removes not only resistance and suffering but also revitalizes both the giver and the receiver.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">This limbic love resonance turns into limbic love regulation, causing both neural networks to rewire themselves. This leads to limbic revision, the changing of the brain&#8217;s wiring. This merciful attention can be done non-local.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 255);\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"><strong>Merciful attention creates <br \/>\nan ever-growing space <br \/>\ninside the one being focused on!<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Since our inner space (made up of atoms) is about 4% matter and 96% space, space or <a href=\"?p=432\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 255);\">no-thingness<\/span><\/a> is thus the key word in both the inner and the outer world!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Brain scans show the marked difference in brain functioning and overall activity (<a href=\"?p=353\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 255);\">gamma waves<\/span><\/a>) that occurs when people are thinking and feeling appreciation versus the opposite.
