DNA carries all of the cells genetic info and instructions for carrying out the functions of the cell. Proteins serve a variety of functions. Some proteins serve in metabolic or structural processes, while others serve to catalyze cellular reactions.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sens.org\/sens-research\/research-themes\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 255);\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">9 categories of biological process<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"> that lead to degenerative aging and age-related diseases have been known for almost twenty years. They are converted metabolically to testosterone and other androgens, and converted into estrogens, that will bind to female hormone receptors in the telomerase gene promoter region, so as to keep cells alive and <a href=\"?p=738\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 255);\">potentially extend human life<\/span><\/a>:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/userfiles\/image\/2024-pics\/Telomerase.jpg\" width=\"333\" height=\"181\" alt=\"\" \/><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Genetic defects in telomere maintenance &amp; repair cause bone marrow failure, liver cirrhosis, pulmonary fibrosis, and cancer. Also danazol, a synthetic male hormone, leads to telomere elongation and thus cell life extension.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/userfiles\/image\/2021%20pics\/telomerase.jpg\" width=\"333\" height=\"191\" alt=\"\" \/><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">USA researchers treated cells with ribonucleic acid and managed to extend its telomeres. It transformed the cells, which are now able to divide and multiply. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">The drug Metformin (C<sub>4<\/sub>H<sub>11<\/sub>N<sub>5<\/sub>), decreases <a href=\"?p=339\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 255);\">blood sugar levels<\/span><\/a>, and increases the O<sub>2<\/sub> molecules released into a cell. This may lead to a longer telomere and thus a longer life, if the side effects (headaches, abdominal cramps, flatulence, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, lactate accumulation, deficiency of vitamin B<sub>12<\/sub>, or trauma remnants, etc.) will not shorten it.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/userfiles\/image\/2014%20pics\/Metformin.png\" width=\"188\" height=\"178\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Curing any age-related condition is great for sufferers, but it will not increase the life span for anyone else. A specific protein in these muscle cells, Cx43, is largely controlled by our genes as well.
