More Therapies?
Few more systems of psychotherapy:
Humanistic – focuses on positive growth rather than pathology. It wants to maximize human potential, ‘the self-actualizing tendency’. Its task is to create a relational environment where this tendency will flourish.
Brief – emphasizes a specific problem and direct intervention. It is solution-based. It is less concerned with how a problem arose than what current factors prevent change.
Systemic – seeks to address people not at an individual level, but as people in relationship, dealing with the interactions of groups, their patterns and dynamics.
Transpersonal – addresses the client in the context of a spiritual understanding of consciousness.
