Is language Key?
As human beings are extremely inter-dependent, the power goes to who’s best at manipulating other’s dependence.
What could be better for this purpose than language, the specifically human tool that is used to justify anything?
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is an approach to change based on the bond between neuro-logical processes and bio- mechanical/behavioral patterns as a result of re-programming of language used ("linguistic"). It can be organized to achieve specific goals in life, or used as a model for therapy.
The key difference between humans and other primates is our use of language. We can achieve high levels of abstraction, giving us a high potential for deception. Ape societies have no political movements built around leaders who channel the aggression of one group against another.
With us, however, language can be used to focus a country’s entire population on a single goal. The ruling class uses fine speeches to stir up patriotic fervor for its wars of conquest.
