Neutral Prompt
Neutral Prompt
That’s where Neutral Prompts comes in. A Neutral Prompt is a way to say “tell me more”. Since we do not have the right to tell our clients what to do, it is therefore better to ask:
“HOW do you mean?”,
“What happened next?”,
“Like what?”,
“What else?”,
“And then what?”,
“How does that work?”
Neutral Prompts have no subject in themselves. They are designed to expand the context of the existing conversation. They are easy to deliver, and can be one of the most productive questions ever to ask a client.
Especially if you try to encourage a client to open up and talk about the emotional aspect of a problem or decision.
