Limbic\’s Interface?
The limbic brain is primarily concerned with self- and species-preservation and controls most of the ANS.
It’s involved with all activities related to food, sex, emotional bonding needs, and the expression and mediation of emotions and feelings, such as motivation, play and sense of self.
It is the interface between emotional states and memories of physical stimuli, hormones, "Action or No-Action" responses, sexual arousal, circadian rhythms, etc.
The limbic system gets "duped" when people get addicted to hard drugs. Since the addiction activities take place in the lower brain section, we cannot rationalize their effects.
The nucleus accumbens plays a role in sexual arousal and the "high" derived from certain recreational drugs. Whatever stimulates it more will have primacy over food or sex.
